A PERSONAL START
A timber sale starts
with understanding
your property.
Your woods may be part of a family property, a working tract, or a place you enjoy. Before anything moves forward, we want to understand what matters to you.
Michigan Timber Connect helps landowners explore a sale of standing timber and connect with regional buyers. We start with your questions and help coordinate the next step when there is a potential fit.
Let’s talk about your woodsA CLEAR PATH FORWARD
From first conversation
to an informed decision.
- 01
Tell us about the land.
Share its location, approximate wooded acres, harvest history, and what you have in mind. It’s fine if you don’t know the tree species.
- 02
Explore a buyer visit.
If a regional buyer may be a fit, we’ll discuss an introduction. Any property visit happens with your permission.
- 03
Decide on your terms.
Discuss the trees and areas you want protected. Review a written offer and the harvest terms before deciding whether to proceed.
IS MY WOODLOT A FIT?
Ten wooded acres is a useful starting point.
A conversation tells us more.
We’re especially interested in hardwood stands of about 10 acres or more. Smaller stands may also be worth discussing. Timber type, condition, access, and buyer demand all matter.

A FEW COMMON QUESTIONS
Before we
talk timber.
Do I have to sell all of my trees?
You can discuss which trees and areas you want considered and which you want protected. Whether a selective harvest is practical depends on the stand and the buyer. Any agreed boundaries and protections should be included in the written terms.
Can you tell me what my timber is worth?
Acreage and aerial images alone cannot establish a purchase price. Species, tree size, quality, defects, access, and current buyer demand matter. An interested buyer needs to assess the timber before making an offer.
What if I have fewer than 10 wooded acres?
Tell us about it. Some smaller hardwood stands may be a fit, while some larger tracts may not be. We’ll discuss the details before suggesting a next step.
Do I have to know my parcel number?
No. Start with the county and whatever location information you have. A parcel number, township, or map location can help us identify the correct property during follow-up.
Who makes the offer and buys the timber?
A regional timber buyer evaluates the opportunity and, if interested, makes the purchase offer. Michigan Timber Connect helps with the initial conversation and introduction. You decide whether to accept the buyer’s terms.
